SHE’S A LUMBERJACK AND SHE DON’T CARE
The Howard Stern Show for November 16, 2009

THE MAN BEHIND THOSE ROBIN SONGS

Howard got 'Little Mikey' on the line to discuss his prolific output of Robin parody songs and asked him about his most recent, which is to the tune of Toto's 'Africa.' Mikey said he was inspired "because [Robin] was going on vacation to Africa one time." Mikey continued to display his subdued personality, telling the crew he lived with his aunt and uncle in New York: "I just got a job."
Mikey said his aunt and uncle aren't fans of profanity, so he has to wait until they leave the house to record his Robin-themed parodies. Howard pretended to be puzzled: "You mean they don't like Robin? I can't believe his Aunt and Uncle don't like Robin songs. They must be racist." Mikey laughed, but made sure Howard knew his Aunt and Uncle were not racists.

$395-WORTH OF COMEDY TRAINING

Mikey noted that he recently took a six-week comedy class at Caroline's, leading Artie to laugh ("I wanna know who taught you.") and ask how much he paid. Mikey said he shelled out $395. Artie just kept laughing. Howard joked: "One show and he'll recoup all that money." Mikey pressed on, plugging Tuesday's release of his original song, 'She Gave Me Blue Balls for Christmas.'

CHARITY OF THE VAGINA

Howard learned that Robin was hosting an event for her painter friend and that half the proceeds would go to charity, leading everyone to speculate that Robin was banging the painter. Howard joked that the charity was really her vagina: "Isn't that that guy you hang around with?" Robin confirmed it was Brendan, a guy she let sit in for the news recently: "He's a friend of mine." Howard laughed: "I'll bet."

NEXT STOP: GUATEMALA?

Robin claimed the charity was very real--it funds girls schools in Central America--and added that she'd also be visiting Guatemala to survey an area she was working to improve: "I wanna see people that go through this." Howard was shocked Robin would put herself at risk and referenced her minutes-long trip to India: "You're gonna fly into Guatemala and you're gonna freak out."
Robin shrugged off comparisons to her aborted Indian trip: "I was trying to have a regular vacation." Howard laughed at the idea of 'regular vacation,' and continued to speculate that there was more at work ("Are you in love with that guy?" and later, "Are you angling to adopt?") but Robin stonewalled him. Howard went on to attack the event's confusing invitation: "I couldn't tell what you were doing. I swear. It was very involved."

GARY GARVER WAS FIRED

Howard got Gary Garver on the line to discuss a recent interview he gave in which he complained about Howard. Howard explained that Gary actually wanted the show to discuss his firing--and obliged: "We fired him." Howard said he didn't understand why Gary was so angry: "I resent what he said. I'm gonna be honest with you...you said horrible things about me." Gary shrugged: "I did put you down. I mean..."
Howard couldn't figure out Gary's reasoning: "Generally in our business, being fired isn't a good thing...I felt that the nice thing to do was not to go on the air and say 'Gary Garver is out of control.'" Gary complained that the clips Howard played from the interview in question didn't include the positive things he'd said about the show: "You played one minute of what I said!"

GARVER LAYS CLAIM TO 'A DAY IN THE LIFE'

Gary admitted that he still had a problem with Doug Goodstein, claiming he stole Gary's concept for 'A Day in the Life'-themed episodes on HowardTV: "It was a concept I came up with where I follow a porn-star around for a day and see how they live." Howard laughed: "You came up with that?" Gary clarified: "I came up with the porn-star concept." Howard said the concept was older than Gary’s and repeated that he kept Gary's firing off the air for his own benefit: "I was trying to do it out of respect...I didn't want to put your business on the air."
