FEBRUARY 9, 2006: HOWARD CALLS BEIRUT

On this date in 2006, Howard (in character as Fartman) placed a call to Beirut to see if his superhero alter ego could make peace in the Middle East. Imagine his surprise when the guy on the other end of the phone asked, "Is this Howard Stern?" Yes, even though Howard has never officially been broadcast in Lebanon, he managed to find a fan halfway around the globe. The man explained that his friends in America had sent him tapes of the show and that he loved listening to Howard and Robin.
  • As a friend, [Howard’s] always there to support you whether you’re on top of the world or the world is on top of you.

    John Stamos
  • Can I just say, I’m a little tired, Howard, of people telling me you’re the greatest interviewer on the planet. It’s getting a little aggravating Howard.

    Katie Couric
  • Howard, to me, is the guy who said, ‘be yourself and let the chips fall where they may,’ and that made me feel good. So I owe you a lot, Howard.

    Louis C.K.
  • Howard, you are absolutely phenomenal. You’re on my radio every morning.

    Bryan Cranston
  • I have to thank you. A lot of people know my story from your show. You guys gave me an opportunity to actually talk about my life.
