Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland Hug It Out in First ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Trailer

Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, and Michael Keaton also star in the superhero film, which swings into theaters July 7

December 9, 2016

The very first trailer for Sony and Marvel’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming” aired Thursday night during ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

The first look at the upcoming movie focuses heavily on the relationship between veteran superhero Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and relative newcomer Peter Parker (Tom Holland), but also includes plenty of action, wisecracks, and overt references to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. There are also a few glimpses of Vulture, the winged villain played by Michael Keaton.

While “Homecoming” is Holland’s first standalone Spider-Man film, his character enjoyed an extended cameo earlier this year in “Captain America: Civil War.” Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, and Donald Glover co-star in the movie, which hits theaters July 7, 2017.
