VIDEO: Joe Buck Does His Best Richard Simmons-Stern Show Impression During ALCS

Fox announcer drops the shout-out during Wednesday’s Yankees-Astros game

Even Gary Dunaier would give this Stern Show shout-out a thumbs-up.

In the middle of Wednesday night’s ALCS matchup between the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros, broadcaster Joe Buck launched into an impersonation of Richard Simmons yelling “Gary!” that any true Stern Show fan would recognize.

Check it out in the fan-captured video (above).

Buck, a celebrity superfan and regular guest of the Stern Show, was yelling “Gary!” while mentioning Mets fan Gary Dunaier who became an overnight celebrity after getting caught on camera giving a thumbs-down to Yankees third baseman Todd Frazier. The entire Yankee team has now adopted the move as their own rally call as they continue their post-season success. They went on to beat the Houston Astros 5-0 on Wednesday, taking a 3-2 lead in the American League Championship.

The "Gary!" sound drop that Joe was referencing is played regularly on the Stern Show, originating from a 2007 interview with Richard Simmons in which he yelled for Executive Producer Gary Dell'Abate to come into the studio and assist him. Hear the raw audio from that recording (below).

This isn’t the first time Joe has dropped a Stern Show reference on live TV, though. In 2016, he put his own personal spin on a Hit ‘em with the Hein shout-out while calling a Carlos Hyde touchdown during a Cowboys-49ers game.

During his most recent visit to the Stern Show, Joe told Howard what it was like to attend Erin Andrews' wedding alongside “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Larry David. Hear his story in the audio (below) and click here for more from Joe’s appearance.
