Alexander Payne’s sci-fi dramedy co-stars Kristen Wiig, Christoph Waltz, Jason Sudeikis, and Neil Patrick Harris

Matt Damon’s small chance at happiness is threatened in the latest “Downsizing” trailer after Kristen Wiig puts the kibosh on their big dreams of becoming a tiny couple.

Alexander Payne’s upcoming sci-fi dramedy imagines a world where scientists have discovered how to shrink humans, allowing them to live out their dreams in idyllic (and cost efficient) “downsized” communities.

The new trailer (above) begins with a normal-sized Paul Safranek (Damon) lamenting his mundane existence, but soon he’s visited by a 5-inch friend (Jason Sudeikis) who convinces Paul and his wife Audrey (Wiig) to downsize and move to “Leisure Land.” Minutes after allowing himself to be irreversibly shrunk, however, Paul’s wife reveals she’s gotten cold feet, so she leaves him to embark on a tiny adventure—which includes drinking from oversized bottles of vodka—all by himself.

“Downsizing,” also co-starring Christoph Waltz, Hong Chau, Laura Dern, and Stern Show veteran Neil Patrick Harris, hits theaters Dec. 22. Watch the latest official trailer (above).
