Jennifer Lawrence gives up a lavish life as one of Russia’s prima ballerinas to take care of her family in 20th Century Fox’s upcoming spy thriller “Red Sparrow.”
The Oscar-winning actress ("Silver Linings Playbook") stars as Dominika Egorova, a devoted daughter who quits ballet to protect her mother, ultimately joining Russia’s Sparrow School which will train her to use her mind and body as the ultimate espionage tool.
The training process is both perverse and sadistic, however, and in the film's newly released clip (above), Dominika's mother encourages her to “hold something back” after enlisting in the Russian intelligence service, suggesting she might only be able to survive by refusing to give the government all of her.
“Red Sparrow” is directed by Francis Lawrence, adapted for the screen by Justin Haythe, and based on Jason Matthews' award-winning spy novel. Co-starring Joel Edgerton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Charlotte Rampling, Mary-Louise Parker, Joely Richardson, and Jeremy Irons, the film hits theaters March 2. Watch the latest clip (above).
