Fifty years after an infamous two-night performance at one of Manhattan’s most well-known music venues, the Who has announced plans to finally release the concert album: “Live at the Fillmore East 1968.”

The first disc of the two-CD, three-LP set has 13 tracks, including a rare version of Allen Toussaint’s “Fortune Teller” and a previously unreleased cover of Eddie Cochran’s “C’Mon Everybody.” It also has extended versions of “A Quick One” and “Relax.”

The second album, meanwhile, has just one epic song: an extended version of the Who’s 1965 classic “My Generation,” a song the band’s frontman Roger Daltrey spoke about at length during his 2014 Stern Show visit. According to the upcoming album’s press release, this extra long version is essentially a “30-minute jam with a climax of guitar-smashing and drum demolishment.”

The Who performed their 1968 concerts at the Fillmore East on April 5 and 6, just a few weeks after the venue—formerly known as the Village Theatre—had re-opened. The band was originally scheduled to perform four concerts over two nights, but the April 4 assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Memphis resulted in the band deciding to combine some of the sets. When Daltrey joined the show most recently in 2015, he spoke to Howard all about continuing to tour as the band members have aged. He also revealed which songs he plans to never perform again. Listen to part of his conversation with Howard (below).
