VIDEO: Jodie Foster Runs a Secret Hospital for Criminals in ‘Hotel Artemis’ Trailer

Star-studded action film features Sterling K. Brown, Jeff Goldblum, Dave Bautista, Charlie Day, Sofia Boutella, and more

“John Wick” meets “General Hospital” in the debut trailer for “Hotel Artemis,” a future-set action-thriller starring two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster as the Nurse, the operator of a secret Los Angeles emergency room for criminals.

The official trailer for the flick (above) introduces a cacophony of characters, including Sterling K. Brown (“This Is Us,” “Black Panther”) as a bank robber, Charlie Day (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) as an arms dealer, Dave Bautista (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) as a hard-bodied healthcare professional, and Jeff Goldblum (“Thor: Ragnarok”) as a villain named the Wolf King.

Whereas Keanu Reeves’ “John Wick” franchise boasted an assassins-only hotel, “Hotel Artemis” is set largely in a hospital for delinquents and deplorables on the mend during the most violent riots L.A. has ever seen. But the Nurse runs a tight operation and any criminal under her care must abide by her rules, which span from no weapons to no insulting the staff to no killing the other patients.

Not everyone is eager to play nice, however. “Rules? Without the rule breakers, honey, where would you be?” asks a bloodied Wolf King at one point.

“Hotel Artemis” is the directorial debut for longtime writer Drew Pearce (“Iron Man 3,” “Mission: Impossible —Rogue Nation”). The film also stars Jenny Slate (“Big Mouth”), Sofia Boutella (“Atomic Blonde”), Zachary Quinto (J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek”), and Brian Tyree Henry (“Atlanta”).

“Hotel Artemis” checks into theaters on June 8.
