AUDIO: Prophets of Rage Release New Track ‘Heart Afire’

Rap-rock supergroup drops song ahead of upcoming North American tour with Avenged Sevenfold

July 6, 2018

On Friday, Prophets of Rage released a fierce new song called “Heart Afire.” It’s the first material from the rap-rock supergroup since their self-titled 2017 debut.

The track (above) features Cypress Hill’s B-Real and Public Enemy’s Chuck D rapping about the nature of truth and freedom over devastating guitar, bass, and drum work from Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk. “Can you feel your heart afire?” the chorus asks again and again.

Prophets of Rage is currently touring Europe and will return to the states for a string of North American tour dates with Avenged Sevenfold kicking off July 22 in Massachusetts. The band reportedly also recently finished recording a new 13-track LP.

Late last year, Stern Show fans got a taste of Prophets of Rage’s music and exciting performance style in the exclusive Howard 101 music special “Howard Stern Presents: Prophets of Rage.” Listen to the band’s performance of the Rage Against the Machine classic “Bulls on Parade” (below) and check out Prophets of Rage’s “Heart Afire” (above).
