July 9, 2018

For the first time in over a decade, Sacha Baron Cohen is returning to television.

The actor, comedian, and repeat Stern Show guest recently revealed he’s been working on a surprise Showtime series called “Who Is America?” and on Monday the network debuted the official teaser (above) as well as some crucial details.

The “Borat,” “Bruno,” and “Da Ali G Show” star’s new seven-episode, half-hour series is described as satire aimed at exploring “the diverse individuals, from the infamous to the unknown across the political and cultural spectrum, who populate our unique nation.”

“Sacha is a comedic genius who shocks you with his audacity, bravery and inventiveness,” Showtime CEO David Nevins added in a statement. “He is the premier provocateur of our time, but not for the sake of ‘gotcha’ moments. Behind the elaborate setup is a genuine quest for the truth about people, places and politics.”

When Sacha joined the Stern Show most recently in 2016, the Golden Globe-winning entertainer spoke with Howard about a variety of subjects, including navigating the MPAA ratings board, sneaking Ali G on stage at the Oscars, and the lifelike prosthetic elephant penis used in his film “The Brothers Grimsby.” Check out more from Sacha and Howard’s conversation here.

“Who Is America?” debuts Sunday, July 15 at 10 p.m. on Showtime. Watch the official teaser (above).
