Watch Slash Shred Guitar as a Rag Doll in His Band’s ‘Driving Rain’ Music Video

Track hails from Slash ft. Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators’ new album “Living the Dream”

Metallica has long been considered the master of puppets, but now Guns N’ Roses legend Slash can lay claim to something similar: master of rag dolls.

The guitar god and repeat Stern Show guest dropped a new music video on Tuesday for “Driving Rain,” an up-tempo single off “Living the Dream,” his latest solo album featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators.

The video (above) serves up some familiar hard rock tropes, like partying hard, driving fast, quarreling with lovers, and performing a concert from atop a mountain, but there’s one major difference in that Slash and his bandmates are portrayed by rag doll puppets.

“The idea behind doing an animated video for ‘Driving Rain’ is mostly due to the dark subject matter of the song influencing directors to come up with very dramatic, dark and sullen regular live action treatments that weren’t any fun at all (no offense to those guys),” Slash said in a statement. “So, I wanted to create something that could be tongue-in-cheek and yet still be dark with live-action animation.”

Released last week, “Living the Dream” is Slash’s third album with his band Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. The past Stern Show guests are currently touring North America and just last Friday one of their concerts was featured on Howard 101 as part of an exclusive broadcast for SiriusXM subscribers.

Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators’ “Living the Dream” is available now. Watch the official music video for “Driving Rain” (above) and check out more upcoming fall albums here.
