AUDIO: Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor Plus Atticus Ross Cover David Bowie’s ‘Life on Mars?’

Duo take on the classic tune for ‘Watchmen’ soundtrack

December 3, 2019

Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor along with partner Atticus Ross have released a chilling instrumental version of “Life on Mars?” by rock legend David Bowie.

Recorded as part of their score for HBO’s “Watchmen” series, the duo are releasing it as a three-volume soundtrack, each releasing on vinyl throughout the show’s first season. While the first two volumes are out now, the third and final will be available later this month.

Reznor played on and co-produced Bowie’s single “I’m Afraid of Americans,” which David went on to later perform at Howard’s 1998 birthday bash. Twenty-one years later, rock group Bones UK recorded the now iconic tune in Howard’s studio in 2019. Watch their unique rendition in the video (below).

The third and final volume of the “Watchmen” soundtrack releases Dec. 16.
