The Justice League may be DC Comics’ most well-known super group, but even with a guy who talks to fish they’re far from its strangest.

On Valentine’s Day, DC unveiled a trailer for its new series “Doom Patrol,” following a band of flawed, disfigured superheroes who solve bizarre cases while battling their own personal demons. Led by a modern-day mad scientist known as the Chief (Timothy Dalton), the Doom Patrol includes a race car driver turned robot in Robotman (Brendan Fraser), a radioactive test pilot in Negative Man (Matt Bomer), a former movie starlet who can change her shape in Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby), and a mentally ill woman with various powers attached to her various personalities in Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero).

The action-filled, darkly comedic trailer shows them joining forces to investigate otherworldly mysteries, rescue the downtrodden, and apparently drink mint juleps. They also end up taking on the sanity-syphoning supervillain Mr. Nobody (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s” Alan Tudyk).

The series is executive produced by Jeremy Carver, Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter, and Greg Berlanti, some of the people responsible for other DC-inspired hits like “Arrow,” “The Flash,” and “Supergirl.”

“Doom Patrol” debuts Friday on DC Universe.
