VIDEO: Jason Bateman Struggles to Save the Family Company in ‘Arrested Development’ Season 5 Trailer

Netflix’s offbeat ensemble comedy returns with 8 new episodes on March 15

February 28, 2019

Tony Hale and Jason Bateman are in over their heads in the new trailer for “Arrested Development,” Netflix’s award-winning offbeat comedy following the trials and tribulations of the dysfunctional and often bizarre Bluth family.

Season 5 resumes in March with eight new episodes focusing on Buster Bluth’s (Hale) ongoing murder trial and Michael Bluth’s (Bateman) attempts to save the family from a mountain of debt tied to a fake business engineering “smart” border walls. The new trailer spends less time on the ongoing storylines than it does with some of the gags, however, which include Tobias Bluth (David Cross) back in his Mrs. Featherbottom getup, Buster losing his hand in an elevator door, and guest star Dermot Mulroney making a joke about Netflix.

Created by Mitch Hurwitz in 2003, “Arrested Development” also stars Portia de Rossi, Alia Shawkat, Jessica Walter, Ron Howard, and Jeffrey Tambor. As Stern Show fans will remember, Bateman discussed the series at length during a 2014 sit-down with Howard which also touched upon “Arrested Development’s” move to Netflix and the decision to cast his sister, actress Justine Bateman, in an unexpected way. Listen to a clip from their conversation (below).
