The most heroic hedgehog in video game history finally makes his way to the big screen in the feature film adaptation of “Sonic the Hedgehog,” speeding into theaters this fall.

Set to the sounds of Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise,” the first trailer follows the lightning-quick Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) as he zips around town, leaving a trail of curious onlookers, downed power grids, and nervous military officers in his wake. Entertainment icon and past Stern Show guest Jim Carrey stars as the C.G.I. hedgehog’s flesh-and-blood human antagonist, the zany Dr. Robotnik.

The clip shows the bad doctor working with the military to catch the prickly hero, deploying an assortment of high-tech gadgets hoping to ensnare him. But Sonic is pretty difficult to catch and with the help of small-town sheriff Tom Wachowski (played by former “X-Men” hero James Marsden), the hedgehog might just stand a chance.

Directed by Jeff Fowler, “Sonic the Hedgehog”co-stars Neal McDonough (“Arrow”), Tika Sumpter, and frequent Wrap Up Show guest Adam Pally.

“Sonic the Hedgehog” opens Nov. 8 in theaters. Experience the trailer (above).
