MTV VMAs 2020: Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, and The Weeknd Lead Pack With Most Nominations

This year's Video Music Awards airs live from Radio City Music Hall on Aug. 30

July 31, 2020

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande were at the head of the class Friday when MTV announced the nominees for its 2020 Video Music Awards. The pop superstars scored nine nominations each for the August award show, including seven alone for their wet and wild collaboration “Rain on Me.”

Stern Show veteran Billie Eilish and singer, songwriter, and “Uncut Gems” actor The Weeknd trailed closely behind with six nominations each. Other notable names scoring mentions included Taylor Swift, Post Malone, Drake, Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa, and Stern Show veterans Katy Perry, Eminem, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Green Day, Finneas O’Connell, Miley Cyrus, John Legend, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Harry Styles, among many others.

In light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the VMAs added two brand-new award categories for 2020: best music video from home and best quarantine performance. The award show will broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall at 8 p.m. on Aug. 30. See the full list of nominees (below).
