Stern Show veterans Charlize Theron and John Cena team up to take down Vin Diesel and his speed-loving, adventure-seeking “Fast and Furious” crew in the official trailer for the franchise’s latest entry “F9,” arriving in May.
Cena makes his series debut as yet another high-performance driving, hard-punching international assassin but what separates the actor and wrestling legend’s villain from all the rest is that he also happens to be Dom Toretto’s (Diesel) estranged brother.
“No matter how fast you are, no one outruns their past,” Diesel offers up at one point (above), amid a series of showdowns between him and Cena which include wrestling moves, drawn guns, and stares so icy viewers might want to put on a sweater.
Directed by Justin Lin, the franchise’s ninth installment features the return of Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Helen Mirren, and Theron, the last of whom reprises her role as Cipher, a cyberterrorist who teams up with Jakob (Cena) to get the “Fast” crew out of the way once and for all.
When Charlize last visited the Stern Show in 2019, she opened up to Howard about everything from her love life to some of her more exciting movie roles on the horizon. While the Oscar-winning actress didn’t spill any “F9” beans, she did talk about getting into character as news anchor Megyn Kelly in the Fox News Channel-inspired film “Bombshell.” Check out a clip from her sit down with Howard (below).
“F9” zooms into theaters on May 22.
