Stern Show veteran Robert Pattinson and “BlacKkKlansman” star John David Washington reverse the flow of time to stave off the apocalypse in the latest trailer for Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi action spectacle “Tenet,” arriving in July.

The clip (above) begins with Washington, son of silver screen legend Denzel Washington, infiltrating a shadowy organization hellbent on preventing World War III. The group has unlocked the secrets of time inversion, a mind-bending concept allowing them to experience the effects of crimes which haven’t yet been committed. He’s eventually teamed up with Pattinson and the duo encounters everything from bullets being shot backward into guns to car accidents happening in reverse.

At one point, Pattinson presents an ill-advised plan to blow up a jumbo jet. “You want to crash a plane?” Washington asks him in disbelief.

“Not from the air. Don’t be so dramatic,” Pattinson responds … over footage of the plane exploding into an airport terminal.

Written and directed by Nolan (“Dunkirk,” “The Dark Knight” trilogy), “Tenet” co-stars Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh, Elizabeth Debicki, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The film is one of several high-profile Pattinson projects arriving at some point in the future. He’s also slated to play the Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves’ 2021 reboot “The Batman.”

When Robert sat down with Howard in 2017, he hadn’t yet seriously entertained the notion of starring as a superhero on the big screen. “For one thing you have to sign up to do eight movies and I just got out of five,” the star of the “Twilight” franchise told Howard with a laugh. “Eight is a lot.” Check out a clip from their conversation (below).

“Tenet” arrives July 17 in theaters.
