For most people, a bad day on the job means working overtime or getting yelled at by their boss. For Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the upcoming thriller “7500,” a bad day means hundreds of innocent people just might die.

The Golden Globe-nominated actor and Stern Show veteran stars as Tobias, a soft-spoken American co-piloting on a flight from Berlin to Paris. The journey begins routinely enough with pre-flight checks and passengers getting settled—Tobias even gets a smooch from his flight-attendant girlfriend Gökce (Aylin Tezel).

Just after takeoff, however, knife-wielding terrorists storm the cockpit, critically wounding the pilot (Carlo Kitzlinger) and cutting Tobias’s arm. Then they murder one of the passengers and threaten to kill more if Tobias doesn’t give them control of the plane. Tobias radios in for help, but there’s nothing they can do. No one is coming to save the day.

“If you work together, you can beat them!” Gordon-Levitt’s character’s tells the surviving passengers over the intercom (above).

Directed by Patrick Vollrath, “7500” premiered at last year’s Locarno Film Festival. The movie co-stars Murathan Muslu, Aurélie Thépaut, and Omid Memar.

Gordon-Levitt memorably opened up about several aspects of his film career during his 2013 visit to the Stern Show, from working with Daniel Day-Lewis in Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” to writing his first film “Don Jon” with actress Scarlett Johansson in mind. Look back at more from his sit down with Howard here.
