Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and Robert Smigel, Triumph's "handler," stopped by to talk about their appearance at the New York Comedy Festival this Thursday.
Triumph told Howard that many big celebrities will be at the event, including Moby. Triumph went on to say that Moby, who is an avid supporter of animal rights, is a typical member the group given his lack of good looks. Triumph then pointed out that for every animal-rights activist who looks like Pam Anderson, 20 of them look like Rue McClanahan. Before he could continue, Howard interrupted Triumph and informed him how great it was watching him hang in the air. Howard explained that, since the E! cameras were no longer present, he was debating whether or not it was necessary to have Triumph physically in the studio. However, Howard announced he made the right decision by having him show up.
No One Is Safe From His Bite
Triumph was happy to hear that Artie was back to drinking and noted that, between his alcohol consumption and food intake, Artie's heart is working harder than Nicole Richie's gag reflex. Triumph also commented that he heard David Lee Roth will be taking over for Howard in some of his East Coast markets, but that after two weeks of shows he'll be replaced by Sammy Hagar. Triumph added that another of Howard's replacements, Penn Jillette, will perform the ultimate magic trick with his show by cutting Infinity's ratings in half.
Barking Up the Wrong Tree
Triumph sang portions of some songs he had written, one about roundworm and the other about the homosexuality of Benjy (the dog). Triumph admitted, though, that most of the lyrics to his songs were too dirty for old fashioned radio (Be sure to tune into the Howard 100 News tonight at 6PM to hear some Triumph's uncensored songs), so he really had to edit himself. Given this, Howard advised Triumph to visit the show again once they move to SIRIUS, because he will then be free to sing about whatever he wants. Even though Triumph sang only a few lines of his song about Benjy, Artie noted that they could've just as easily been about the Benjy he was sitting next to as they were about Benjy the dog.
