Kevin Custer, the photo editor for Playboy, stopped by the studio to help evaluate a few women who want to be Playmates. Kevin is responsible for bringing the girls to Hef, taking test shots of them, and helping pick which ones make it in the magazine. Kevin said there are some months where he sees more than 1,000 women who want to be in Playboy. Of those women, Kevin actually brings no more than 15 of them to Hef.
Howard used to get tons of letters from women who wanted to get naked just for his E! show, so he couldn't imagine how many women get in touch with Kevin. One of the problems Kevin encounters is that most women don't believe he's actually from Playboy. He claimed that none of the women has offered him sex, usually because they're all too nervous when they get in front of the camera. Last year Jillian Grace contacted the show to be evaluated, and ended up becoming Miss March 2005. Because of Jillian's success, Howard's gotten many letters from Playboy hopefuls looking for a chance to make it. He said he and his staff picked only women they thought actually had a chance of becoming Playmates. The candidates were: Celine, 24, a cocktail waitress at a popular club in Miami. She said celebrities come into the club all the time, and that she was hit on by Colin Farrell. She also said that, although she didn't have sex with him, she got "a little crazy" with Vince Vaughn once. Celine rated herself a 10, and said she's wanted to be in Playboy since she was 15. Right away Howard said she had a cute face and that she was thin, which he really liked.
Artie thought she was hot, but wasn't sure she was Playboy material. Howard felt like she should be in the magazine even though she didn't look like a typical Playmate. However, both Gary and Artie felt there was something missing. Kevin said that he would definitely test shoot her. He talked about the misperception that girls have to be huge-chested and fake-looking to be in Playboy, but that's not what the editors want. Kevin liked her natural look and thought how she acted in front of the camera would make or break her. Pamela, 23, is an advertising sales assistant in New Jersey. Howard asked why she only rated herself a six, and she said because she knew she wasn't perfect. Howard still thought that was a low score for someone who wanted to be a Playmate. Pamela submitted pictures to Playboy in the past, but was told she'd have to send in nude shots to be considered. Unfortunately, she said she couldn't find anyone willing to take naked pictures of her. Kevin questioned her interest in wanting to be in the magazine because he thought there must've been some way for her to get shots in the buff if she really wanted it. Gary felt that Pamela needed to tone up dramatically to have any chance at being a Playmate. Howard and Artie agreed. Howard wondered if Kevin would consider her if she lost 25 pounds, but he couldn't say because it depended on how she lost the weight. Ericka, 22, a waitress at a Hooters in Florida.
Howard said she had nice muscle tone and he understood why she rated herself a 10. Ericka explained she exercises all the time, and that lunges help her stay in shape. Howard said he tried lunges last night, and that he almost had a hernia. Artie didn't even know what a lunge was. While Artie thought she was Playboy material, Gary and Howard thought there was something off about her face. Kevin wasn't sure her face was right for Playboy either, but he said he'd be interested in seeing pictures of her to see how she looks when she's photographed. He said she could be the kind of woman who makes you say "wow" when she steps in front of the camera. Cleery, 25, is a real estate worker from San Fransisco, who rated herself an eight.
Howard thought there was something about her that made her seem crazy, but she promised she wouldn't freak out if she wasn't picked. All the guys agreed that her forehead was too big, that she wasn't toned and that she didn't have a Playboy face. Kevin even told her she shouldn't bother sending in pictures. Howard thought she should send in pictures, just of someone else. After the contest, Howard announced that each contestant was given $500 from the movie "The Aristocrats" for her participation.
