Howard brought up an article about bridge ratings, which predict the number of people who subscriber to satellite radio. According to the report, 750,000 people will be signing up for SIRIUS in the fourth quarter of this year, and 1.5 million people are expected to get the service by February. These figures seemed to rebuke the claim made by XM Radio president, Hugh Panero, who said earlier this year that Howard wouldn't have an impact on the number of satellite subscribers. Howard pointed out that Hugh spent years trying to sign him to join his company, but that, in the end, he ended up taking too long. Howard was glad that, like so many other doubters, he was proving Hugh wrong. Howard also mentioned that he saw his SIRIUS coworker, Martha Stewart, last night when he was dining with his daughter. Howard said Martha came over to his table and requested some pointers for her satellite station. Howard was happy to oblige her because he figured she would help attract listeners away from regular radio. Artie commented that he had never seen Howard as charged up as he was about his move to SIRIUS.
