Melrose Larry Green called in to wish Howard a happy Jewish New Year. However, Howard responded that he recognizes January 1 as the only New Year. Howard then wondered if Melrose was still banned from the show. Melrose reminded Howard that he participated in Hollyweird Squares earlier this year, so he and Howard were back on speaking terms. Howard recalled lifting the ban, but warned Melrose to get his point across quickly. Melrose reported that, allegedly, Joey Buttafuoco is now driving a Mister Softee truck in Los Angeles selling ice cream. Howard mentioned that Joey just got out of jail again for insurance fraud, and figured driving an ice cream truck was probably the best job he could find at the time. Artie pointed out that Joey is selling ice cream in Los Angeles because he still wants to be a star, which he thought was hilarious. Besides the Joey news, Melrose also announced that ABC picked up "Jimmy Kimmel Live" for another year. Howard noted that ABC seems to be treating Jimmy pretty well, because they're sticking with him even though his ratings aren't that great. However, Robin commented that she has been hearing more and more stars talking about being on the show, so she felt it was heading in the right direction.
