Howard announced that it was time for America's Hottest Ex-Con Contest. This contest featured four women who were being judged on both their looks and the severity of the crimes that landed them in prison.
The first woman was Kate, who, Howard reported, at 20, drove drunk one night and ended up causing an accident that took another woman's life. Kate admitted it was difficult for her to think about what she did, and remembered swerving to miss a telephone pole, ending up in the other lane of the road, which caused the accident. Kate also acknowledged her blood-alcohol content that night was 0.14 percent, even though she claimed she drank only a small amount of champagne.
Kate went on to say the experience changed her life, and that she thinks about it everyday since it happened. Kate reported that she spent two years in prison for her crime, adding she was nervous about going to jail, and being stripped and deloused in front of 30 other women didn't help matters.
Kate also mentioned she was "gay for the stay" behind bars, explaining she had sex with two of her fellow female inmates during her stay. However, Kate acknowledged she lost her lesbian feelings as soon as she was released from jail, and now had a (male) husband. When a caller took issue with Kate's inclusion in the contest given that she had killed someone, she responded that she knew "what a piece of sh*t" she was and noted she was sorry every day for the death she caused. Howard then took some calls from people who supported Kate, saying they believed she had served her time and was obviously remorseful for what she'd done.
