Donald Trump and his two eldest children, Don and Ivanka, came into the studio to talk about tonight's premiere of the new season of "The Apprentice." Howard began the interview by asking Donald about his recently publicized feud with Martha Stewart. Donald explained that he still likes Martha, but he didn't appreciate that, in his opinion, she constantly blamed him for the low ratings of her version of "The Apprentice." Donald added that, although his name was attached to Martha's program, he wasn't thrilled with the idea of it airing, primarily because his version of "The Apprentice" continues to get such high ratings for NBC. Despite his appraisal of Martha's comments, Howard suggested that she wasn't being as harsh as Donald may have initially thought. Howard then admitted that he, too, has issues with not giving people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to things they say about him, so he understood why Donald reacted the way he did. To illustrate his point, Howard recalled that, late last year, he heard a clip of Jack Black allegedly badmouthing him, but when he listened to the clip more closely with Jack in the studio, he realized he had overreacted. Robin also mentioned that Mark Burnett, the producer of "The Apprentice," had said publicly that Donald may not be interested in keeping the show going and that hiring Martha to take his place was a solution to the potential problem. However, Donald replied that he still took Martha's words negatively, especially when she claimed she wanted "to fire" him from his own show.
Because of the self-admitted difficulty he has with forgiving people, Howard wondered if it's difficult being Donald's child. Don replied that his father has never treated his children differently than anyone else, so he admitted that it has sometimes been difficult trying to avoid confrontations with him. However, Ivanka added that, in addition to the hardships associated with being Donald's child, there are also "advantages" as well. Ivanka went on to say that Donald is always honest and easy to understand, so she has never been in the dark when it comes to his feelings. Ivanka also pointed out that, since she and Don both work for their father, there have been times when they've disagreed with various decisions, but that he always respects their ideas, even when they differ from his own. This led Howard to ask Don and Ivanka if they'd ever questioned their father about his will. Donald replied that, out of respect for him, his children have never brought the topic up, although he's sure they've thought about it before.
Howard wondered if Don and Ivanka were bothered that Donald and his wife, Melania, recently had another child. Ivanka told Howard that having a new sibling might have been tougher for her if she were younger, but that, at 24, she wasn't phased by it. Ivanka added that she and her brother are working hard for their father and he knows the contributions they've made to his business. Ivanka then refuted the rumor Howard joked he had heard that she and Don have started calling the baby "Parasite."
