Jon Hein kicked off the fourth installment of “The Friday Show” introducing a clip of when Howard took the show to Los Angeles during his WNBC days. Gary recalled that Howard was out west at the time because he was sponsoring a song-parody contest and he took some of its participants to Universal Studios. Gary added that, while they were at the park, Howard interviewed Kit, the talking car from “Night Rider,” which was the clip Jon played. Following the clip, Gary commented it was like digging up a time capsule. After Jon explained that “Knight Rider” was a show that ran in the 1980s that made David Hasselhoff a star before he appeared on “Baywatch,” he added that the most fascinating part of the clip he played was Howard’s voice because he didn’t think it sounded anything like it does now. Gary went on to say that, although the interview sounded tame by today’s standards, when it took place, which was 1984, Howard was the only entertainer who would’ve asked Kit if it had a penis as he did in the clip.
