A DOCTOR AND A STALKER

The next tape Jon played was of Artie’s recent discussion about his visit to a doctor before filming “Beer League.” In the clip, Artie admitted he was embarrassed during the appointment, because he had to tell the doctor the following aspects of his past: he had a 76-pound weight gain within the year; he was hospitalized for a mental illness; he was on anti-depressants; he used cocaine, heroin, pot, ecstasy and pain killers; he smoked cigarettes; and he was hospitalized because of both his drug and alcohol abuse. Jon next got to the call Artie’s former “Mad TV” costar, Christa Miller, made last month to announce how another of the program’s stars, Nicole Sullivan, had to move from her house for a time because Artie allegedly kept showing up to do cocaine there. Artie responded to the story by saying he was eventually arrested for possessing cocaine, and he remembered how, when he called his answering machine from jail, he found out from a message left by director, Cameron Crowe, that the scene he had shot for “Jerry Maguire” was cut from the film.
