Jon said the past two times Howard wanted to play the Top 5 songs in the country, there were problems, and he played the clips of the arguments that ensued on both occasions. In the first, Howard found out his Top 5 list wasn’t the same as the one in Billboard, so he called out Sal on the error because he was responsible for sending him the songs. However, Sal told Howard that Scott the Engineer was the one whose job it was to actually get the list from his “Top 5 guy,” while also blaming Gary for the error as well. Sal, Gary and Scott then came into the studio to try to settle the matter, and it was determined by Howard that Sal was the one to blame for the miscue, although he admitted he wasn’t happy with Scott either. Despite the fact that Howard thought he had the Top 5 list problems corrected, in the second clip the very next week Scott misspelled the name of the group Gnarls Barkley as “Gnarly Barkley.” When the tape was done, Scott came into the studio and reported he spelled Gnarls Barkley’s name wrong because his “Top 5 guy” misspelled it when he sent him the list. Gary then advised Scott to start getting his Top 5 song list from the internet so he wouldn’t make spelling mistakes in the future, but Scott said he’d start double-checking the list his “Top 5 guy” sends him instead.
