ONE QUESTION AND ONE QUESTION ONLY

ONE QUESTION AND ONE QUESTION ONLY

July 28, 2006
Jon played a bit, One Question and One Question Only, from his early days at WNBC. Gary then explained the segment featured calls from people who were allowed just what the title suggested: one question. In the first clip, a caller asked what Howard’s ratings were for his show, and, as Howard answered, the caller began asking another question, so he hung up on her. While the second caller asked Howard if he was gay, the third one asked how he was, which was his one question, even though he had a follow-up. Howard proceeded to field questions about what he smelled like, where he went to college, as well as one from a caller who wanted a photograph of Robin. Upon hearing the last call, Gary remembered, since the show wasn’t televised at that time, fans didn’t know what anyone from the program looked like, and they used to debate whether Robin was black or white.
