SEEKING FORGIVENESS FOR HIS WORDS

SEEKING FORGIVENESS FOR HIS WORDS

Howard began the show by noting he felt what people say about Mel Gibson’s recent anti-Semitic remarks tells a good deal about them, especially when they don’t understand why he has been getting so much criticism for them. After Robin suggested Mel was “nuts,” Howard added that he read, since Mel began losing his hair, he doesn’t considered himself to actually be Mel Gibson anymore.
When Howard then wondered what Mel could do in order to have Jewish people forgive him for his comments, Artie replied he’d have to get super powers, go back in time, and prevent the Holocaust from happening. Which Howard admitted wasn’t a bad idea, especially because he said he couldn’t think of anything Mel could do before he heard it.
King of All Japs called in to ask Howard if he hated Mel for what he said, and he responded “hate” wasn’t the right word, but he was “particularly sensitive” to the situation because of the beatings he received for being Jewish when he was younger. This led Robin to point out that Mel supposedly has his own chapel on his property, and this kind of behavior was what his belief in organized religion caused.
