Howard brought Gary in to discuss the Mets' season-ending loss yesterday. Gary said he spent the weekend in Vegas, but the loss ruined his whole trip; John Maine nearly threw a no-hitter on Saturday only to have Tom Glavine fall apart in the first inning of the season-ender. Gary remarked that he went home and had to have a "moment" with his son Jackson, so again Howard and Artie wondered why Gary didn't raise him a Yankees fan.
Gary blamed a lot of the Mets' September meltdown on Jose Reyes and the team's pitching staff. Howard suggested that Gary raise his sons to appreciate chess instead of baseball, so Gary revealed that he didn't think chess was "manly." Howard explained all the ways someone can get injured playing "manly" sports, and Artie told Gary how one of his friends actually appreciates his career-ending football injury.
