Blues Traveler's John Popper stopped by to promote his new record, "Just for Me," and Howard noted that John would be performing John Lennon's "Imagine" live in-studio. Howard told John that he looked like he'd kept off the weight he lost via gastric bypass surgery, but John claimed he wasn't quite "skinny" yet. Howard then asked John about all the guns and drugs that he was caught with in Texas, and John explained that he was "kind of a kook." Robin wondered if John could go a month without shooting something, and Howard asked why John needed the sirens and PA in his car. John explained that he just wanted a "Batmobile"-type vehicle so he was prepared in case of an earthquake. Robin thought John had fantasies of being a cop, but John replied that he actually was quite vulnerable; he's even tattooed "I want to be brave" backwards on his chest so every mirror serves as a reminder.
John then performed "Imagine" with his friend Chan and afterward asked if he could perform another song (to see what the gang thought, as his band thought it was gay). John sang the "gay" song a cappella, and though George thought the song was "beautiful," Howard told him he wouldn't put it on an album. Even Jeff the Drunk called up to say John's version of "Imagine" was "amazing" but his solo vocal was "f'ing gay."
