During Robin's news, Ralph called in to talk about one of the news stories and Howard reported that Ralph had asked for a couple weeks off so he could go to Los Angeles.
However, Howard also pointed out Ralph had 10 weeks of vacation per year, and that he felt he should plan his trips around those weeks instead of taking additional time off. Howard went on to say he needed Ralph to work just one day a week and therefore didn't want him leaving, but Ralph insisted he had "important" things to do in California. After Artie noted how "worthless" Ralph sounded this morning, he replied he no longer wanted to have the conversation on the air.
Doug Goodstein came into the studio and reported Ralph was getting paid by Howard TV, and, since that made him Ralph's boss, he didn't think he should be going on vacation. When Ralph made a comment about Doug's new baby's nanny, Doug warned him not to talk about his child anymore before throwing down his headphones and storming out of the studio. Following that, Fred said he'd never seen Doug so angry, and Gary got on his intercom to comment that he had noticed some tension between Doug and Ralph recently.
