The show began with Howard discussing the upcoming Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and that Gary had learned through David Lee Roth himself that he won't be there when Van Halen gets recognized. Howard also reported that David told the Hall of Fame committee that he'd be willing to perform with anyone, but he was allegedly informed Velvet Revolver would be playing the Van Halen song instead of the band itself. Howard added David promised Gary he'd come on the show soon to discuss the matter.
After Robin referred to Van Halen as "the best worst band ever," Artie added Van Halen wasn't the only group whose members argued with each other, noting the Eagles had their share of problems. Howard then said he liked it when "the Beach Boys fought" as well, and proceeded to welcome back this week's announcer, George Takei, who immediately pointed out the fact that Artie never shaved. Although George thought Artie's stubble made him look like "a real man," Artie warned him that the look "wasn't calculated."
