Howard had John Denner, a man born with a birth defect that caused him to be missing part of one of his arms, into the studio to not only play guitar, but to play the solo from Van Halen's "Eruption," which Fred noted not many people with two arms could do. While John talked about how Van Halen inspired him to learn to play the guitar,
Howard got Jeff the Drunk – who recently claimed he couldn't be a carpenter because of his dead arm – on the line to show how motivated John was despite his disability. John went on to say the guitar was his passion, and that he planned on visiting Walter Reed Hospital later this month to inspire soldiers injured in Iraq who used to play guitar to continue to do so despite their injuries.
After John played "Eruption" to perfection, a performance that had Fred laughing in amazement in the background, everyone in the studio applauded. Robin then informed Jeff that John didn't let his disability get in the way of his dreams, and Jeff replied, "I'm amazed."
Howard proceeded to ask John if he'd ever used his arm during sex, but he said he hadn't. John did say, though, that he was in love with his girlfriend and that she treated him "very well." John also pointed out he'd "love" to have a career in music, although he added he wasn't interested in joining a band.
