Howard read some e-mails, including one from a man who claimed he'd always wanted to be a pirate and wanted Howard's help getting him onto some new reality TV show about pirates.
This led Howard to give his definition of what a pirate was – and decided it was essentially someone who "stole stuff" on the open sea – before adding he didn't think anyone wanted to be a pirate anymore. After Howard read a message warning him not to let Eric the Midget take the offer Jimmy Kimmel made yesterday – that Eric would be given tickets to "American Idol," among other things, and then travel to New York to fly with balloons – because the author didn't think he'd come through, Eric got on the line to refute the allegation. However, Howard said the e-mail writer wasn't the only person who felt that way, playing a clip from yesterday's "Wrap Up Show" of Gary referring to Eric as "not being a man of his word" as proof.
Despite Gary's remark, Eric insisted he'd "make good" on the deal, but Robin noted she didn't believe him either. Howard then reminded Eric that he had lied to him in the past – namely about how he'd vote for Sanjaya – but Eric insisted his "support" for Sanjaya was merely "a joke."
Eric did admit, though, that what he said about Sanjaya could be considered a lie, and Howard responded that, once someone lied, it was difficult to ever trust that person again. Eric then explained the two situations were different because a third party – Jimmy – was now involved, but Howard said he still didn't think he believed him.Following Eric's call, Howard paid tribute to Pat Bombino, the cancer patient whose Make-A-Wish dream was to be on the show and who passed away recently, by playing his appearance from last year.
