A caller wanted to know who Howard thought would "fail" after he retired from radio, and Howard began naming people, and, when he got to Artie, he noted that Artie wasn't in this morning because he had to be on the set of "Rescue Me." Howard then admitted he didn't understand why Artie considered "Rescue Me" more important than being on the show, but also said he "didn't care" anymore.
Robin proceeded to wonder if Artie acted "sleepy" – like he tends to do on the show – when he was on the "Rescue Me" set because of how early it was, and Howard responded by telling her he was sure Artie "perked up" to impress the television crew.
Howard then got back to the question, and chose JD because he was 27 years old and was only trained to watch TV. Given this, Gary noted there were rumors yesterday that JD was in the studio more often than usual because they thought he was trying to impress Jimmy Kimmel so he could get a similar job on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," which JD acknowledged was true.
However, JD also said he didn't think he made a good impression on Jimmy, noting only one of his clips was played on the air yesterday. While JD admitted he "wasn't sure" what he'd be doing if he didn't work on the show, and that he wanted to be a filmmaker but couldn't "come up with an idea" for a movie, Howard assured him he'd "be fine" if and when the show finally ended.
