Howard said he was surprised to hear Artie on Bubba's show yesterday afternoon, and Artie added he was surprised by it too.
Apparently, Artie had described Bubba as a "jerk off DJ we have on our channels" when he was talking to Little Steven yesterday and Bubba was calling to get an explanation.
Artie added that he had just had a shot of "Jack Daniels' Single Barrel," explaining that his mother had called to let him know one of his Mad TV sketches was on and watching a "coke thinned" version of himself play George Clooney – which made him depressed and want a shot of whiskey. Artie added that he was cranking Neil Young's "After The Gold Rush," which Howard claimed was a bad thing to listen to when you're feeling depressed…and when you're having sex.
Artie further explained that, with Bubba and his crew on the phone, it was like he had instant drinking buddies, and saw no reason to stop drinking. He went on to say he was pretty buzzed when he started giving Bubba a hard time about his wedding, saying things like the "Krispy Cremes and chocolate fountain made up for the shit dinner" and calling the very expensive crystal bowl Hulk Hogan and his wife gave him a salad bowl.
During his time on the phone with Bubba, Artie also gave Tim Sabean a very hard time, calling him a chameleon and a fat fuck. Artie explained that he was just kidding with Tim because he knew Tim could take it.
Artie also had a chat with Akira, who was also on the phone with them, with Bubba trying to broker a "hook-up" between the two.
Mother Comes In All Flavors
Robin thought that the most interesting thing about this whole thing was that all of it started with a phone call from Artie's Mom that started a chain reaction that got him drinking on a weekday afternoon for the first time in months.
Howard thought it was interesting that, while Artie's mom told him he was as good looking as the character he was playing in the Mad TV bit, George Clooney, his own mother was the opposite.
Howard explained that, back when he was much heavier, his mother would constantly criticize his weight. Artie said that his mother had started getting on him about his weight, which included her no longer giving him gravy with the meatballs she made for him.
