Howard began the show by saying he played the part of “Mr. Family Guy” over the weekend on Father’s Day, adding that he gave his dad a $1000 gift voucher to use at the track. Howard noted that his parents argued loudly at one point, as they’re both losing their hearing. After dinner, Howard and his dad watched the Yankee game on TV, and they enjoyed it. Neither stayed up for the end of the game, so the next morning, Howard showed his father how to find the score on the Internet, which amazed him. Howard then tried to get his dad to walk on the beach, but he refused to take off his shoes. Howard mentioned that he and Beth watched their therapy session with Dr. Keith Ablow on HowardTV. Artie said he made an appointment with Dr. Ablow on Friday because Dr. Ablow’s “showbiz personality” makes him easy to relate to. Artie added that everyone has been telling him that they enjoyed the couples therapy segment. Howard said his dad was being negative about “the world” and “politicians” and also made several claims that he was “sensible.” Robin replied that she was very happy not to be bothered on Father’s Day. Howard noted it was hard to talk about life without his parents, adding that he doesn’t think he’s going to be able to deal with their eventual deaths too well.
