Howard noted that Dean Karnazes, a super-distance runner, is in the middle of running on a treadmill in Times Square for 24 hours straight. Dean, via a remote microphone, told Howard that he'll run about 160 miles at an 8 to 9-minute mile pace over the 24 hour period.
Robin asked Dean what he's going to do when he has to use the bathroom, and Dean replied that he just signals someone but then has to run faster to make up the time. Dean noted that he's trying to break the world record for most miles run in 24 hours.
Dean claimed that his resting pulse is below 40, which led Howard to contrast Dean with Artie, who was enjoying a high-fat Mocha Frappuccino. Artie said he used to be able to run 5 miles in 48 minutes but now can't even run one mile. Howard asked Artie if he could ever run a sub-9 minute mile, and Artie responded that he once ran 5 miles in 44 minutes. Artie asked Howard what his personal record was, and after some thought, Howard said that he ran a mile in less than 7 minutes once, but it was during a shorter run.
Lisa G came in to report that Artie will be meeting with Dr. Keith Ablow tomorrow. Howard then asked Artie to weigh himself, but Artie refused. Artie confessed that the weigh-ins make him "super depressed", and promised he'd do it on Monday. Howard commented that, while he and Artie eat the same lunch, Artie supplements his with Mocha Frappuccinos and cupcakes.
