Beth Ostrosky Stern was in the studio to talk about the book she has been working on, "Oh My Dog." Beth announced she was planning a chapter in her book about all the different ways people bond with their dogs and wanted people to email their comments to her at: BethOMyDog@gmail.com. While she was there, the subject of the "training methods" Scott DePace uses on his own dog, Cookie, came up.
Scott came in to defend himself but Beth explained that there were many better ways to train a dog with positive reinforcement. When Beth asked if Cookie cowered whenever Scott raised his hand to her, Scott said she did, adding that he rarely has to actually smack her on the rump anymore as a result. Beth then offered to bring a dog trainer to Scott's house to train the dog and teach Scott how not to his hand to discipline it anymore. Scott welcomed the offer, but was concerned that there may be too much homework. Beth was also concerned, because if she saw Scott "smack Cookie on the ass" she might be compelled to beat him up.
