Gilbert Gottfried stopped by to promote his weekend stand at Caroline's and told the crew he was uncomfortable being a dad: "It's still a Twilight Zone episode I'm waking up in."
Howard asked how he felt about Artie's absence, and Gilbert said it at least gave him something talk about: "Whenever something like that happens, it's like hearing a new joke. You wanna be the first one to tell everybody...just anybody. Stopping people on the street."
Howard asked if Gilbert ever talked to any other comedians, and Gilbert laughed that the only comedian he ever talked to was Richard Jeni: "And he ended up shooting himself, so maybe talking to me..."
Howard wondered if Gilbert was sad when Richard killed himself, but again Gilbert just shrugged: "Also I had something to talk about."
Throughout Gilbert's time on the show this morning, Fred would play clips of Gilbert laughing hysterically, usually at inappropriate times. Every time Gilbert heard himself laugh he would laugh with the clip, filling the studio with his cackling.
