Former New York Senator Al D’Amato called in to endorse the re-election of incumbent NY Senator Kirsten Gillibrand: “I’m not afraid to cross party lines…DioGuardi has demonstrated little of anything and that Gillebrand has done a good job. I think she’ll be less tied to the administration now that they won’t have these overwhelming numbers and will be a much more moderate Democrat when she’s re-elected. I would support Gillebrand.”

She’s Hot and Hard Working

Howard referenced the photos Vogue recently published of Kirsten’s slimmed-down figure, but Al dismissed their perceived ‘sexiness’ as dropped babyweight: “Just these past six months…she’s taken to a diet and an exercise regimen…she shed a lot of weight and she looks terrific.” Al repeated his hope that Kirsten’s campaign was successful, as she’s proven her herself as a worthy appointee–Kirsten replaced Hillary Clinton when she left to become the Obama administration’s Secretary of State–and now deserves to win the seat by vote: “She’s pretty well on her way to being elected as a Senator in her own right.” That said, Al said he also hoped to balance the Obama administration with more Republicans in Washington: “What you have is a total arrogance of power in these past two years.”

D’Amato on ‘Robin’s Equipment’ and Paladino

Howard asked if Al would have been interested in dating Robin back when he was single, and Al jumped: “It crossed my mind a number of times. Let me tell you, she’s got the equipment.”

Al also held court on the NY Governor’s race: “Paladino has demonstrated that he’s off the bean too much.”
