Asked how he wrote 'Hey Soul Sister,' Pat said he was just missing his wife, Amber: "I wrote it in New York. It was really quick...my wife was back at home."
Pat said Amber had changed him forever: "I'll never not be with her in my life."
Jimmy was glad to hear it: "When he was in his last marriage, it sucked for us."
Pat laughed: "I'm grateful for the hellish marriage so I can really appreciate this."
Pat said the record broke, as most of their songs do, on Hot Adult Contemporary format radio, a format not known for moving a lot of units. But 'Hey Soul Sister' transcended: "We sold a million downloads without being on pop radio."
Jimmy said the song took them all the way to 'Dancing with the Stars,' where he had a connection with one of the dancers: "I met a very nice girl backstage. It wasn't one of the contestants."
Jimmy later took her back to his hotel. The first night for sex, the second for anal: "We're good--we're friends. We went out once."
Howard loved it: "Oh! If I could smell your penis!"
