Meet Brooke, Tim Sabean’s ‘Niece’

Howard learned that Tim Sabean was introducing one of the new interns to the staff as his niece, so he asked Brooke into the studio: “Why does Tim call you his niece if you’re not his niece?”

Brooke shrugged: “Because I’m like his niece…[but] technically no.”

Robin laughed: “Do you call him Uncle Tim?”

Brooke nodded: “I can.”

Brooke said she came to New York to intern for Sirius XM’s Cosmo station, but the channel flubbed the dates, so Tim got her a temporary gig at the Stern show.

Tim came in to explain himself: “We grew up together. All those kind of things. So we take care of each other. Our families are very close.”

Howard didn’t understand how the pair grew up together: “She’s 20. You’re a hundred years old. What are you talking about?”

Tim continued: “It’s not weird. It’s very–if you knew the whole situation, we’re–we spend holidays together. We’re at each other’s homes all the time. We take care of each other. It’s just the way it is. We’ve been through good times, bad times, all this stuff together.”

Fred laughed: “He’s babbling.”
