Joan Rivers talks about why it's hard to make fun of people at awards shows now

Asked about Ricky Gervais now-infamous monologue at the 2011 Golden Globes, Joan shrugged: “People are so scared. That’s why we don’t do the red carpet anymore.”

Joan later added that pressure from Hollywood’s high-strung PR girls also played a part: “You said something about Nicole Kidman two years ago, so [they’re] not going to give you George Clooney.”
