Daryl Hall stopped by to promote his new album, "Laughing Down Crying," and denied any alleged interest in joining the ranks of The Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame: "They're past their due-by date. They're old guys."
He also denied feeling any animosity toward John Oates, claiming they're on good terms: "We have absolutely zero animosity."
Howard pressed on, asking if Daryl thought of John as an equal partner in their past success, so Daryl shrugged: "I don't know if there's such a thing as equal partners." Daryl added that their split was more about a desire to stand alone: "We're individuals. I'm not half of something. F' that. There's a resentment to being 'half of something.' Yes." Asked if he saw any resemblance between Gary and John, Daryl laughed: "Absolutely. He looks so much like John. It's weird."
He Still Hates Deer
Daryl said he still hates deer--he's surrounded his mountain-side property with a deer fence--as they've left his entire family with Lyme disease: "One of the reasons I'm in a strange mood this morning is at 6:30 in the morning, my nervous system goes berserk. And that's because of Lyme."
At Howard's request, Daryl and his band then played "Kiss On My List"--and later, his new single, "Laughing Down Crying."
