Steve Langford reported that Gary had won last night’s Parks & Rec board vote by a landslide: 119 to 64. Howard was glad to hear it: “Congratulations, Gary.” Gary said it was an amazing night, in part due to the 14 people who stood to speak on his behalf: A state assemblyman, the ex-tax collector, the mayor, the selectman, a 16-year-old kid who I’d coached and a whole bunch of my neighbors…it was a beautiful show of support.” Steve Langford said he’d tried to interview Gary’s most vocal opponent, Colleen Jenkins, but “she ran.” Additionally, a police officer stopped Steve and asked that he not pursue her. Gary said he planned use his new power and position to improve the parks’ schedules so they could be used by even more people: “Did everybody think I was going to try to put a stripper pole in the park?”
