While he was in the studio, Steve told Howard about his visit to the home of Sour Shoes--who still lives with his parents ("They didn't express any unhappiness with that.") in his boyhood bedroom: "It was like something out of 1973. Just a, you know, a single twin bed with some old sheets and and an old phone like you've never seen with a long cord coming from the kitchen. And he's in there rolling around on the bed."
Sour Shoes' playground bled out into the living room: "There were toy soldiers all over the floor. He was having a great time."
