At Home with Sour Shoes

While he was in the studio, Steve told Howard about his visit to the home of Sour Shoes–who still lives with his parents (“They didn’t express any unhappiness with that.”) in his boyhood bedroom: “It was like something out of 1973. Just a, you know, a single twin bed with some old sheets and and an old phone like you’ve never seen with a long cord coming from the kitchen. And he’s in there rolling around on the bed.”

Sour Shoes’ playground bled out into the living room: “There were toy soldiers all over the floor. He was having a great time.”
