Rock Icon Dave Navarro Visits the Stern Show

Rock icon Dave Navarro visited the Stern Show on Wednesday but before entering the studio Howard tried his hand at a prank. The King of All Media fled from the studio and told Howard lookalike Ron Brawer, who had just made an appearance, to sit in his chair and pretend to be the real Howard.

Navarro wasn’t fooled for one second. “I’m not falling for this. Take off your glasses. Ok, alright. It doesn’t work, dude,” the Jane’s addiction guitarist insisted. “It’s clearly not Howard.”

Howard ran back in and was relieved Dave knew it wasn’t him. “Thank God!” he said. “I love you, man.”

“I walked in here and I was like, ‘What the f’ happened to Howard?'” Dave said.

Ron bristled. “Are you sure this is Dave Navarro?” he said.

Work Over Pleasure

Back behind the mic, Howard asked Dave about his time with another of the show’s recent guests, Tila Tequila.

Dave balked. “Here’s the thing about that,” he responded. “I’m as open of a book as anybody and I–my philosophy is that I don’t out other people’s business.”

Dave went on to say he’d rather focus on his work than that relationship. Asked why he still worked after all his success, Dave shrugged. “I’m at a level where I don’t need more but I don’t want less,” he said.

Dating Carmen Electra

Howard also wondered if dating Carmen Electra was the best thing ever.

Dave leveled with him. “You would think but … at a certain point they become real people. You know what I mean? If she had the ability to turn into a pizza, we’d be set,” he said, explaining they were both too busy with their careers to make the romance work. “We just ended up being roommates. Best friends.”

He said it got the point where he was “just praying she’d fall asleep so I could put on last week’s episode of ‘Rescue Me.’”

Howard asked if Dave had come immediately the first time he saw her naked, but Dave denied it: “I wasn’t really beside myself…she wasn’t quote-unquote Carmen Electra. She was just like this chick I was dating.”

Brooke Mueller

After reading a report about Dave making out with Brooke Mueller, Charlie Sheen’s most recent ex-wife, Howard had some questions.

“That was actually not an accurate report,” Dave said. He then blamed his frequent pairings with porn stars on his “open” sexuality: “You tend to attract people that are like-minded.”

Dave said he’s almost paid the ultimate price for his philandering. “I’ve had to go through, like, the DNA tests,” he said. “Like, ‘You are the father.’ Oh my god. You talk about sleepless nights, my friends. There was a situation where this girl called me [and] she was like, ‘I’m pregnant. It’s either yours or my ex-husband.’”

Dave said he lucked out but the waiting sucked. “The only way to determine whether or not I’m the father is I have to wait until it has hands,” he said.
